This application is a combination of a digital video recorder and a video display server and is part of a larger communication and surveillance system. A total of four digital video recorder units and two video display servers are used per train set, each housed in its individual 4U 19" cPCI rack.

The digital video recorder unit captures closed circuit television (CCTV) images to disk and stores event data collected from the set. It is based on an F18 single-board computer with an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500 processor running at 2.2 GHz with a custom F608 side card providing the RAID functionality needed to address the system's eight hard disk drives (1 TByte each). The unit is equipped with three power supply units (5V and 2x 12V).

The video display server is also based on the F18 and enables real-time display of CCTV images on the set. A custom F608 sidecard provides a 1.25Gbits/s optical Ethernet interface via a rugged optical SFP (LC Duplex) connector. A second F18 CPU unit can optionally be added to the video display server rack.
