With the ESMexpress® standard MEN Mikro Elektronik bridges a gap in the market for System-On-Modules for harsh environmental conditions and safety-critical requirements in industrial embedded applications. Unlike the COM Express™ standard which is administered by the PICMG, ESMexpress® is currently prepared to be standardized according to ANSI by the VITA. The official designation is ANSI-VITA 59, RSE Rugged System-On-Module Express.´

This evaluation and development platform can be used together with any type of ESMexpress® module. Thus, the XC1 provides physical interfaces and connectors for nearly all of the modern serial standard I/Os routable from the ESMexpress® connectors to the carrier board as defined in the specification. The functionality of all connectors depends on the ESMexpress® module used on the XC1. It supports standard ATX form factor and can therefore operate in a PC system.

The AE12 adapter board can be used to evaluate an ESMexpress® CPU module on a COM Express™ carrier board. The adapter is type 2 basic form factor compliant in accordance with the COM Express™ standard by PICMG. It adapts the pin-out and the mechanics of an ESM™ module to COM Express™.

EXPO Ferroviaria is now well established in Italy¿s rail industry calendar. More than 6,000 rail transport industry professionals visited the 2006 event, which was staged alongside the INTERtunnel 2006 tunnelling show. Attendance was 20% up on that at the first EXPO Ferroviaria in 2004.

303 exhibitors from 19 countries took part in the 2006 show. Among them were many of the industry leaders. With numerous new products on display, exhibitors confirmed the vital role of the event as a showcase for technological innovation.
