CPCI Express® Rack - 8 Slots Single Euro Hybrid
This compact 4U rack-mount enclosure is a basic system that allows the configuration with both CompactPCI® Express and CompactPCI® cards. Being a hybrid system, it offers an uncomplicated and cost-effective migration solution from parallel 3U CompactPCI® to serial CompactPCI® Express.
The 8-slot hybrid backplane in this configuration does not need a bridge or an active logic. The four slots on the left are designed for 32-bit CompactPCI® and rear I/O on P2. The four slots on the right are reserved for CompactPCI® Express. The dual CompactPCI® Express system slot is situated in the middle of the backplane and is designed as a 4-link-configuration. Three peripheral slots are accessed with 4 links x 1 lane each. While two of the peripheral slots are accessed with 1 link x1, a third slot is accessed with 2 links x1.
This hybrid system is designed for use with the MEN system-slot SBCs F14, F15, F17 and F18 in combination with the side card F602. This specific side card connects to the CompactPCI® Express side, while the SBCs are plugged on the CompactPCI® side of the system.
That way, the three remaining slots on the CompactPCI® bus and another three slots on the CompactPCI® Express bus can be used to install additonal I/O functions.
While the serial CompactPCI® Express bus on the right is best suited for functions like Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet or high end graphic with high data rate requirements, the parallel CompactPCI® bus delivers enough performance for all kinds of conventional I/O like binary or analog signals.
For optimum convenience the system is prepared for essential mass storage media: the 3U bay can accommodate several hard disk drives available from MEN. A 300W ATX wide-range power supply unit which is accessible from the front of the system is already included and wired.
The enclosure meets EMC requirements, making it a perfect choice for embedded applications in harsh environments.
