This ticketing system for trains provides customers with onboard wireless prepaid payment services while traveling. Using prepaid dongles passengers not only save time by not having to buy tickets at the stations, they also can receive additional information like positioning and connections.
It was realized using a modular 3U CompactPCI PlusIO hybrid system exclusively assembled with standard CompactPCI and CompactPCI Serial cards: an F19P SBC, the G301 Ethernet switch with PoE, the G212 PCIe Mini Card Carrier for the wireless functionality and a standard power supply.
The PCIe Mini Cards give high flexibility for country specific standards with regard to the international usage of wireless data transmission. For instance, GLONASS functionality was also realized using one PCIe Mini Card. The rugged system fulfills the requirements of the EN 50155 railway specification.
Standard Components Used in this Example
The F19P versatile 4HP/3U single-board computer is compatible to the CompactPCI PlusIO standard and equipped with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor SP9300.
The G212 is a rugged single Eurocard CompactPCI Serial carrier board supporting the PCI Express Mini Card standard or the ExpressCard standard for implementing WLAN, UMTS, GPS, GSM or HSDPA interfaces.
The G301 is an unmanaged 3U Gigabit Ethernet switch implemented as a CompactPCI Serial board with 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports on RJ45 connectors.
