OpenMediaVault-based NAS on 3U CompactPCI Serial

BLUE BELL, Pa. October 2015 - The modular storage system MH70S offers huge storage capacities of up to 20 TB in a compact half 19-inch format. For use as network attached storage system, short NAS, the turnkey solution is based on the operating system OpenMediaVault, supporting an easy user interface and flexible extensions, among other things.

CompactPCI Serial Storage PC with OpenMediaVault for NAS
  • 19"-based turn-key system
  • Operating system OpenMediaVault (Linux and Windows on request)
  • Up to 16 GB DDR3 DRAM soldered, ECC
  • Up to 20 TB storage capacity (depending on RAID level and HDD sizes)
  • Up to 5 hot-swappable HDD/SSD carriers for RAID 0,1 or 5
  • Single or redundant power supplies or uninterruptible power supply (AC or DC)

Fast Time-to-Market through Software Support

Being an open system platform with OpenMediaVault support, the MH70S is not just prepared for the typical NAS applications, but can be also used as content server for entertainment applications and as a remote server or video recorder in all mobile markets.

The operating system OpenMediaVault is based on the Linux distribution Debian and offers a complete and user-friendly NAS and RAID management as well as monitoring via SNMP, diagnosis interfaces and remote functions like Samba/NFS, FTP or iSCSI.

Additional reliability is provided by redundant PSUs and the robust, EN 50155-compliant design. A powerful CompactPCI Serial SBC with an Intel Core i7 CPU and Intel AMT support is controlling the MH70S. Up to five hard disk carriers can be installed in an MH70S, offering space for two 2.5" SATA HDDs or SSDs each with internal RAID 0, 1 or JBOD. Depending on the RAID configuration of the complete system, a storage capacity of up to 20 TB can be achieved.

Two of the seven slots in the system can be equipped with Ethernet interface cards and/or Ethernet switches – the latter with Power over Ethernet functionality (PoE) on all channels. For wireless communication via WLAN, UMTS, LTE, GPS or GLONASS these slots can alternatively be used for PCI Express Mini Cards.

All cards are available as built-to-order components, which saves time and money in purchasing without the need to waive individual adaptions.
